THIS TUTORIAL INSTRUCTS ON HOW TO
1. Upload a MP3 SHOW FILE
2. Create a SHOW POST
3. Connect the uploaded file to the mp3 player in the SHOW PAGE
UPLOAD THE SHOW MP3 FILE.
Step 1
Open FileZilla
In menu Select FILE + SITE MANAGER
Site manager requestor opens
Step 2
In site manager requestor make sure settings are:
Host: www.thehot12.com
Login type: normal
User:dj@thehot12.com
Pass: you should have this written down
If all the above info is correct CLICK CONNECT
You will see folders appear in the file manager
listing on the right side of the screen
Find folder SHOWS and double click
You should see all your previous shows
In this folder..
Step 3
Using the file manager on the left side of
Screen find the folder that the shows mp3
Audio file is in.
Step 4
Select the name of the file you want to upload then
While selecting Hold down the right mouse button
A menu will appear, select UPLOAD. The selected
File will be transferred to your server. Now minimize
The FileZilla window because you will need to come back
To it during step 8.
CREATE A SHOW POST
Step 1
After file has been uploaded you will need to log into the Hot 12s
Website DASHBOARD. To do this go to the home page
Scroll to the bottom where Melody Productions
Copyright notice click on Melody Productions
This will take you to login page where you will
ENTER YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD
Step 2
Once you are in the dashboard, from the brown menu at the
Very top of page Select NEW+POST
Step 3
After the NEW POST page opens enter in a TITLE, your show notes
In the CONTENT AREA then select the correct podcast CATEGORY
Step 4
Next you need to add your podcast episode to the post to do this scroll down to the podcast episode section. In the MEDIA URL FIELD type the following:
https://www.thehot12.com/shows/
Next maximize the FileZilla window to retrieve the file name.
In the right hand window under the SHOWS folder SELECT
The name of the show episode you uploaded earlier. Then RIGHT CLICK on it.
When the menu appears select RENAME
Next RIGHT CLICK on the file name Again and when the menu appears
Select COPY then minimize the FileZilla window and go back
To the MEDIA URL FIELD in the NEW POST page that you were editing
Earlier. Click inside the field behind /shows/ and HOLD DOWN THE RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON
When the menu appears select PASTE.
The file path in MEDIA URL FIELD should look something like this.
click the VERIFY button to make sure the file path is correct
you will get a message confirming that the file has been found.
IF YOU GET AN ERROR CHECK THE PATH OR THE FILENAME
TO MAKE SURE THE SPELLING OF THE FILENAME IN MOZILLA
IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE FILENAME OF THE FILE
IN THE MEDIA URL FIELD.
Step 5
make sure that your TITLE, CONTENT& CATEGORY are correct
Then publish the post by selecting PUBLISH in the top right hand side of the POST
PAGE you have now added a new podcast to the RSS FEED which is how your Podcast is syndicated.
CONNECT THE LATEST SHOW TO THE MP3 PLAYER IN THE SHOW PAGE
(This instruction applies to the 3 show pages set up for The Hot 12, The Gumbo Mix and The Real Deal.)
Step 1
Depending on which show page you need to change, you must first navigate to that page on the website:
To change the hot 12 select the HOME BUTTON
To change the Gumbo Mix select MORE SHOWS + THE GUMBO MIX
To change the Real Deal select MORE SHOWS + THE REAL DEAL
once you have navigated to the show page EDIT THE PAGE by selecting
EDIT PAGE in the charcoal colored menu bar at the very top of the page.
Step 2
Once you are in the Section where you edit the page, look in the content area for the following short code…The only thing you will need to change in the code is the file name of the show which is shown Highlighted in the example below.

Change this to the name of the show file that you uploaded in FileZilla at the beginning of this tutorial. BE CAREFUL NOT TO ERASE THE QUOTATION MARKS that the file path is enclosed in.
Step 3
save the page by selecting the UPDATE BUTTON at the top right hand side of the page.
That’s it you have updated the site to reflect the new show.
